The Band of His Majesty's Royal Marines
On Friday last week, our GCSE musicians enjoyed an inspiring careers event featuring the Band of His Majesty’s Royal Marines.
The band visited Crofton School to give GCSE music students an insight into the exciting career opportunities available to musicians within the Royal Marines.
Alongside an informative talk, students were treated to an impressive live performance, demonstrating the exceptionally high standards of musicianship, discipline and teamwork required by professional military musicians.
Members of the band explained how a career in the Royal Marines can combine a passion for music with opportunities to travel, perform at major events and work as part of a unique team; a particular highlight was seeing two former Crofton students, Beth McGregor and George Prentice, among the musicians. Their involvement made the event especially meaningful, providing current students with a real-life example of where their musical education could lead. Seeing former students now performing professionally with the Royal Marines helped make this career pathway feel both achievable and inspiring.
