Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope this letter finds you well. Although February may feel like a long way off, preparations are already underway for what promises to be a fantastic ski trip to Austria in 2026!
We will be in touch with lots more detail in due course, but we wanted to share a few key pieces of information early, especially as summer can be a great time to start thinking about ski clothing. Local selling sites, second-hand outdoor shops, and community pages often have hardly-worn skiwear available at good prices – and with six months of teenage growth ahead, it is worth buying with a little extra room in mind.
Skiwear Checklist (students will need the following):
Waterproof ski jacket
Waterproof ski trousers (salopettes)
Base layers (thermal tops and bottoms)
Ski gloves or mittens (waterproof)
Ski socks (at least 3–4 pairs)
Neck warmer or buff (no scarves)
Goggles
Small ruck sac (school one or smaller)
Warm hat or beanie
Casual evening wear for the hotel
Please do not worry about buying everything new – plenty of great condition items are out there second-hand, and we will cover all the essential requirements at our Ski Information Evening on Wednesday 12 November 2025 at 6pm. This will be a great opportunity to hear more about the trip, go over the clothing list in detail, discuss travel arrangements, money and medical information, and share what we know so far to help make this a truly memorable experience for your child. A reminder about this evening will be sent out early in the Autumn Term.
In addition, all beginner skiers will be invited to take part in Dry Ski Slope Lessons in late November and early December. These sessions are an important part of the preparation and will help build confidence before we hit the real slopes! Mr Playford will share details about dates, transport, and equipment nearer the time.
Once the Autumn term begins, the gradual build-up to the Alpine Adventure will begin and communications will become more regular. For now, I wish you a great summer and please do not hesitate to get in touch with me should you feel the need to.
Best Regards,
Mr Barnes, Ski Trip Leader
