Year 10 Coffee Morning

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to provide you with an update on a new initiative we have implemented. We have organised targeted groups of students who have begun utilising the Revision and Intervention Centre (RIC) as a dedicated study area before and after school. This space is designed to help students enhance their revision skills, complete homework, and catch up on any classwork they may have missed due to absence.

So far, we are pleased to report a positive response, with approximately half of the Year 10 students using the RIC regularly. However, we have encountered some resistance among certain students who may feel they do not need this support or perceive attending the RIC before or after school as a form of punishment. We would like to clarify that our primary goal is to create a positive learning environment.

Research indicates that the earlier students engage with the RIC during their GCSE preparation, the more beneficial it is for their long-term academic development. We aim to help students identify effective revision methods that suit their learning style. We can also help you find resources and support to assist your children at home.

We want to invite parents to a coffee morning to discuss the RIC's offerings in more detail. This session will provide parents/carers with an opportunity to learn about available support and assess whether they believe their child could benefit from these resources. Please complete the form emailed home, to answer the question so we can gauge your level of interest and availability to attend. It will be a morning session from 8:50 am to 9.50 am on Wednesday, 11th Feb 2026.

We understand that many parents/carers have busy schedules, and attendance is entirely optional. If there is sufficient interest, we can look into organising additional sessions in the future.
