Dear parent/guardian,
Once again, I am very excited to inform you of our plans to take part in the Race-for-Life ‘Pretty Muddy’ 5K event in Portsmouth this summer, and we would love your child – and yourselves – to join us in participating in the event and raising money for a cause close to all our hearts, Cancer Research.
This event involves running or walking 5 kilometres, whilst tackling obstacles and getting muddy!
More information on the event:
Date – Saturday 9th of May
Location – Southsea Common, Portsmouth
Time – Please select the 11.45 time slot
Open to – All students – boys and girls - and parents!
Group meet time – 11am
Fundraising –There will be an entry fee (currently discounted with the code RFL26NY if you sign up in January), and you will have a page to raise some money for the charity.
If your child would like to join us, you will need to enter for them. Race-for-Life state that any child under 15 should enter with an adult, so you would need to sign up with them. However, I have spoken to the charity who have said that you can call them directly to book a child only space so that they can join with us as the leading adults if slots are available. If only your child is attending, you will still need to remain at the event.

Select either ‘join team’ and type in ‘Crofton School – Pretty Muddy’ or create your own fundraising page. Please note, if you join the team and create a fundraising page in the team, your full name will be visible to anyone who shares the fundraising page. You therefore may wish to create a separate fundraising page.

So that we can ensure we are ready for the race, I will be beginning a ‘fun run’ club for the students closer to the time so that we can build our fitness in preparation for the event. Attendance to this is optional, however it will be a great opportunity for the students to build on their fitness and wellbeing.
