Thursday 18 June 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are very proud of the Personal Development Programme at Crofton School and are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for our Year 10 students.
As part of our Personal Development Drop Down Day on Thursday 18 June, students will take part in a Post-16 Further Education Day at St Vincent Sixth Form College, Gosport. This visit has been carefully arranged to give students a realistic insight into life beyond Year 11.
The aim of this experience is to:
Provide a first-hand understanding of post-16 education
Help students prepare for the practical aspects of college life, including travel, independent study, and unstructured time
Offer exposure to a range of subject lessons delivered by post-16 specialists
Broaden students’ awareness of Further Education options, regardless of their eventual destination
This experience is not specific to St Vincent College as a destination, but rather an opportunity to explore Further Education more generally, with St Vincent chosen due to its proximity.
In addition to their Work Experience this month, this day will help students place their learning into a wider context and encourage them to make the most of their remaining time at Crofton.
Representatives from St Vincent College will take part in the Year 10 assembly on Tuesday 5 May to introduce and explain the day to students.

Behaviour Expectations: Students are representing Crofton School and are expected to maintain our usual high standards. If concerns arise, students may be supervised separately or parents may be contacted to collect them.
Communication During the Day: If you need to contact your child’s Tutor or Head of Year, please do so via the school office as usual.
Absence: If your child is unable to attend, please report this to the school following normal procedures.
I have also attached the flyer that students will receive in the assembly tomorrow. Students will be able to make their subject choices when the form opens after the assembly at 14:15. Sessions are allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis, and once a subject is full it will be removed from the form and students will no longer be able to book onto that session.
We are confident this will be a valuable, enjoyable, and inspiring experience for all students, and we hope it will become a regular part of our Personal Development Programme.
If you have any questions or require further information, please contact kgrainger@croftonschool.co.uk
Thank you for your continued support.
