Hot weather update for Monday 29th June

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of what has been a challenging week of extreme weather, I am writing to share an update regarding our plans for Monday.

First of all, I’d once again like to say a huge thank you to all of our families for your patience, understanding, and support over the last few days. I also want to extend my genuine thanks to everyone who took the time to contact me with their thoughts. I have deeply appreciated the feedback and the constructive spirit of our community—even on those occasions where we haven't entirely agreed on the way forward.

Looking Ahead to Monday

I am very pleased to confirm that school will be open as normal on Monday morning. Fortunately, the latest localised forecast for the Stubbington area shows that the worst of this extreme heatwave is breaking over the weekend.

While next week will still feel warm, daytime peaks are dropping to a much more comfortable 23°C. Just as importantly, the intense overnight temperatures we've been battling are set to dip back down to around 14–15°C. This cooler night air is exactly what we need. It means that the building will have a chance to cool down over the weekend, and the trapped daytime heat should have cleared out by Monday morning.

While the Met Office is predicting higher humidity next week, it will be much easier to manage because the building's baseline temperature should be much lower. We don't anticipate any further disruptions.

Uniform

Even though we are moving out of official heatwave conditions, we know it is still going to be a warm week. To help the students stay comfortable and focused on their learning, we will continue to offer uniform flexibility next week. Students are welcome to come to school in their Crofton PE kit, or they can stick with the adapted normal uniform (leaving blazers, jumpers, and ties at home), whichever they prefer.
