HISP Parent Governor Vacancy
Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing to you to invite you to stand for election as a parent governor or to nominate another parent to do so. We currently have one parent governor vacancy and the term of office is 4 years.
The role of the Academy Committee
The responsibilities of the Academy Committee (AC) are delegated by the Trust to help the trust fulfil their purpose and strengthen trust governance. Often the 4Ss are highlighted as an ACs core purpose, this includes safeguarding, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), standards and stakeholder engagement. For further details, please see the attached AC Member – Parent role description.
Who can stand for election?
To be able to volunteer, you need to be a parent/carer (or someone with parental responsibility) for a child at the school. You do not need any specific qualifications.
To fulfil the role, you will need to:
Attend regular meetings (around 7 each year)
Visit the school occasionally
Complete background reading
Take part in induction training and ongoing development
Every board needs a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience. We would welcome applications from someone with a wide range of professional skills but experience of education would be particularly useful.
How to apply
If you would like to apply, please complete the enclosed nomination form and return it to Reception (marked for the attention of the Clerk to Governors) or e-mail to clerktogovernors@croftonschool.co.uk by Friday 23 October 2026. If you are putting someone else forward for nomination, please make sure they are happy for you to do so.
If there are more nominations than vacancies, we will conduct a secret ballot.
Yours sincerely
Robbie Baillie
Chair of Governors/Academy Committee
