Dear Parents & Carers,

I am pleased to announce that the next Crofton School Ski Trip will take place during the

February half term of 2028. Following the success of our previous trips, we will be returning to the Austrian Alps, this time to Wagrain, a superb and popular destination for British school ski parties. Wagrain offers excellent skiing for beginners and intermediates, whilst also providing sufficient challenge for more advanced skiers. We are particularly pleased to be returning to the Markushof, a hostel that Crofton has stayed at many times before. It offers excellent accommodation, a friendly atmosphere, wonderful food and, most importantly, skiing from the doorstep, making it an ideal base for a school ski trip.

Students will have six days of skiing, with four hours of ski tuition each day, delivered by

qualified instructors. There will also be a programme of organised evening activities,

providing students with the opportunity to enjoy the wider Alpine experience.

We will travel by coach and ferry, departing from Crofton on Friday 11th February 2028 and returning to school on Saturday 19th February 2028.

The price for the ski trip is £2,100 per student, which includes:

• Return transport by coach and ferry from school

• Six days of skiing

• Six-day lift pass

• Four hours of ski tuition per day

• Hire of skis, boots, poles and helmets

• Six nights' full-board accommodation at the Markushof

• Three organised evening activities

• Full snow guarantee

• Ski equipment breakage insurance

• Full-time tour manager

• All relevant ferry and transport costs

• 24-hour emergency assistance whilst on tour

• Personalised Crofton ski-trip hoodie

The quotation also includes evening activities such as Wasserwelt Amadé swimming,

Eisstockbahn (curling) in Wagrain, watching a competitive ice-hockey match and

attending a Ski Show Apres Ski Event.

All students will require their own passport and Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC).

Passports must be issued less than 10 years before the date you enter the country and

must be valid for at least 3 months after the last day of the trip. Please check both the date of issue and expiry date carefully.

Students will also require suitable specialist ski clothing. Whilst it is possible to hire some

equipment, it is often more cost-effective to purchase discounted or second-hand ski

clothing. We will provide further advice on acquiring suitable clothing nearer the time. All

students and staff are required to wear ski helmets.

The Crofton Ski Trip 2028 is an enrichment opportunity and, as such, is not eligible for

financial assistance from the school. To help spread the cost, we will offer a series of

recommended payment dates.

If you would like your child to join this ski trip, please complete the online reply slip

https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/uEe4uWcjXy and pay the initial interest holding deposit of £250 by Friday 20th November 2026.

Crofton School is cashless, so our preferred method of payment is through our online

payment system, ScoPay. If you require your child’s ScoPay login details, please contact

Payment Schedule:

It is important for the school to meet payment deadlines with the tour operator in order to secure transport and accommodation, so please ensure you keep up with the above

payment schedule. Parents wishing to pay the full outstanding balance at any time are, of course, welcome to do so.

We anticipate taking approximately 48 students. Should the trip be oversubscribed, we will hold a ballot, and a waiting list will be created. Previous years would indicate that the

waiting list is used. Any students unsuccessful in the ballot will receive a full refund of the

interest holding deposit.

Once places on the trip have been confirmed, deposits are non-refundable unless an

acceptable replacement is found. In cases where a student is unable to participate for

medical reasons, a refund may be possible through the relevant travel insurance policy.

Please note that once payments have been made to the travel company, they may also

become non-refundable.

We have to make you aware that it is your responsibility, when giving your consent for your child to participate in an overseas school trip, to ensure that you have obtained the consent of any other person who has parental responsibility for your child.

There will be a parent's ski information evening before the trip, at which further

information about the itinerary, skiing, equipment, clothing and practical arrangements will be provided.

Students who have never skied on snow before may be required to undertake some afterschool dry-ski-slope lessons before the trip. Further information about this will be provided nearer the time.

Attendance on this trip is conditional on good attendance and behaviour in school.

Should your child’s behaviour or attendance fall below the expected standard, they may lose their place on the trip and any monies paid, if no waiting list exists.

Please contact me if you have any questions. We look forward to yet another wonderful

week of skiing in the Austrian Alps and hope that your child is able to join us for what

promises to be an amazing Alpine experience.

Yours faithfully

Mr S Barnes
