Christmas Concerts 2025

Dear Parent / Guardian,

This year the Christmas Concerts will take place on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 December at Holy Rood Church at 6:00pm (with performers arriving at the Church at 5:30pm); we aim to finish just after 8:00pm. There will be fantastic items from all our ensembles and, for students who love to sing Christmas songs, it is not too late to join our singing group (for all years) that rehearses in Mu1 on Friday lunchtimes! We will be asking for donations on the evenings of the concerts at a suggested £2 per person; tickets will not be sold in advance.

We would like to remind performers of the Crofton School concert uniform. The code of dress for anyone performing in the Christmas and Summer Concerts is a smart, plain black outfit with plain black shoes. Boys should wear a plain tie of a single colour (of each student’s choice). Girls should wear smart trousers, a skirt or a sleeved dress that reaches below the knee when in a seated position. If possible, please try to avoid bare arms, striped or patterned clothing and casual looking clothing such as skinny fit or flared trousers and bright socks.

Singers should aim to wear a plain black t-shirt (at the Christmas Concerts) if they are unable to obtain clothing as described above. Please contact me if you have any difficulties or questions via joliver@croftonschool.co.uk.

Information for performers:

We will be having a rehearsal at Holy Rood Church on Tuesday 9 December from 11:15am until 3:10pm; performers will meet in the main hall at 10:50am and will be escorted to the Church by members of staff during morning break – if your child has an instrument that is too heavy to carry, please ask them to see us so that we can drive it to the Church. All pupils (including year 11) will need to take a packed lunch as they will not be able to leave the Church site; students are not permitted to have a take-away deliver food (such as Domino’s Pizza or fish and chips) into the church. Pupils do not need to go back to school at 3:10pm and may go home from the church.

Any students who are uncertain about their black uniform are encouraged to bring it to the rehearsal so that it can be checked – we have spare uniform for anybody having difficulty finding clothes. Pictures of students in the concerts can be seen in the music block but please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.

Yours faithfully

Mr Oliver and Mr Allen
