Dear Parents and Carers
It is a privilege to write to you for the first time as the next Headteacher of Crofton School. Having spent thirty years in education, the last ten of those in senior leadership, I am incredibly excited to bring my experience to a school that sits at the very heart of a community that I know and love.
For me, this isn't just a professional appointment; it is a personal one. I live locally in Locks Heath and have a long-standing connection to the area. In fact, I was married at St Edmund’s (Crofton Old Church), and on any given weekend, you will likely spot me around the village as I deliver and collect my three children from their various clubs and activities.
I want Crofton to be a place where kindness is a two-way street, a school where students not only feel supported and cared for but also take pride in showing that same care to one another. I want our children to feel a deep sense of belonging here, mirroring the pride I feel for our local area.
I am also thrilled that our school is part of the HISP Multi Academy Trust. This is a partnership built on a shared commitment to growth and expertise, and being part of this wider family of schools offers our children wonderful opportunities. By working together, we can provide a platform for our students to see the world beyond our school gates, encouraging them to find the courage to set their sights even higher.
My goal is for our students to be creative problem-solvers who aren't afraid to think for themselves. I want their time at Crofton to be about more than just results - I want them to embrace the wider aspects of school life, so that we are providing them with both the best possible life chances and a bank of wonderful memories.
I am a firm believer that our job as teachers is to work in partnership with parents and carers. You know your children best, and their success is built on a foundation of mutual trust and open communication. I am eager to begin that work with you.
After half term, you will begin to see me around the school. I am committed to being a visible, approachable presence, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible to hear your thoughts and to begin our journey together.
With kind regards

Mr Mark Palmer B.Ed. (Hons), NPQH
