Money Matters for Year 11
As part of their “Personal Finance” course, Year 11s have been given the opportunity to learn first-hand from people in the banking sector. Barclays (Fareham) has teamed up with our Personal Development Learning (PDL) to deliver a series of lessons to inform students about money. In addition to explaining what a bank does and how the High Street Bank fulfils a different role to the Investment side of things, students are given the chance to learn about budgeting, the difference between “good debt and bad debt” and the process of applying for a loan, including a mock-interview. Whilst the PDL department has offered such Personal Finance lessons for a number of years now, this is the first year that we have teamed up with Barclays (Fareham) and it is quite clear that, with so much talk about money matters in the news, the students are keen to learn more.
