Year 7 Boulogne Trip 2026

Dear Parents and Carers

We are hoping to take a party of current Year 7 students to Boulogne, France on Friday 19 June 2026.

  • Learning Outcomes: To gain insight to French culture and use the language in a natural environment.

  • The trip is open to 100 students together with 10 members of staff. The group leader for the activity is Mrs Adam.

  • Dress: Casual – within the regulations of the school’s non-uniform policy

  • Transport: 2 x Coaches by ferry Dover-Calais (outward) and Eurotunnel (return)

  • Time and place of Departure: 03:50 from school. Anticipated Return: 23:00 at school

  • Cost: £100.00

  • Provisional itinerary: Visit the historic area of Old Boulogne, visit a snail farm, visit a French hypermarket.

Additional details/requirements: Due to the length of this trip, students will need to bring sufficient drinks and snacks. A cooked breakfast should be available on the outbound ferry but we cannot guarantee this until the day of travel. We recommend that they bring approximately £30.00 changed into Euros to spend in Boulogne and at the hypermarket. We recommend they also bring approximately £10.00 in sterling if they wish to buy anything from the shop on the ferry.

Due to EU regulations, we are not allowed to take products containing meat or dairy to or from France and you will need to bear this in mind when packing food.

All students will require their own passport and European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC). If the EHIC is still in date when the trip goes, they can use that, but if it has expired you will have to apply for a GHIC (applications for a new EHIC card are now not applicable to the UK). https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/healthcare-abroad/apply-for-a-free-uk-global-health-insurance-card-ghic/ Passports must be valid for at least 6 months after day of the trip so you will need to check the expiry date, and the passport must be issued less than 10 years from the date of the trip.

It is your responsibility to provide us with your child’s passport and GHIC card before the trip. Due to the numbers of students taking part, we will need a few weeks to process them before departure. If your child has a non-UK passport, it is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with the relevant visa or settled status documentation and provide it to us along with the passport. If you are unable to provide us with the correct documents by our cut-off date, we may not be able to take your child on the trip and you could lose all monies paid.

We also need to make you aware that if European visas are brought in, we may need to ask for additional documentation.

We have to make you aware that it is your responsibility, when giving your consent for your child to participate in an overseas school trip, to ensure that you have obtained the consent of any other person who has parental responsibility for your child.

If your son/daughter’s involvement in this activity affects deadlines in relation to the submission of work, they should inform the member of staff concerned.

(Please note that this is a voluntary contribution but that the trip will not go ahead if insufficient contributions are received. If paying for the trip is a problem, please contact Mrs Adam, trip organiser).

Attendance on this trip is conditional on good attendance and behaviour in school. Should your son/daughter’s behaviour or attendance fall below the expected standard, they will lose their place on the trip and any monies paid.

If you are interested in your child going on this trip, please complete the online reply slip by clicking on the link below and pay the £25.00 deposit by Friday 7 November 2025.

The final balance of £75.00 can be paid by the following instalments:

£25.00 due Friday 6 February 2026

£25.00 due Friday 6 March 2026

£25.00 due Thursday 2 April 2026

Once you have made any payments, they become non-refundable, unless we can find a replacement.

Unfortunately, numbers are limited, so if the trip is oversubscribed a ballot will take place shortly after 7 November. Unsuccessful students will be put on a waiting list to take the place of anyone who drops out.

If you anticipate any problems with making the payment by the due date, please contact the Finance Office and we will do our best to support you.

Yours faithfully

Mrs A Adam
