Dear Parents/Carers
We would like to invite you and your child to a presentation from the PE department to share details of how to best support them in attaining the highest possible outcome in the non-examination assessment (NEA), worth 40% of the GCSE PE final grade. For this part of the course, pupils are assessed in three recognised practical assessments and written coursework to analyse and evaluate their performance in one of those sports.
From an administrative perspective, the PE department will submit performance assessment grades to the exam board. The exam board will send a moderator to our school site, who will ask for a sample of students to observe in person to confirm our marking is in line with national standards. Some students will be asked to show video footage to support their grade. It may be that your child participates at a higher level than we can demonstrate here on site on a moderation day, or they participate in a sport that we cannot offer on site.
The practical assessment comprises:
Skills - Video footage of five named skills performed in progressive drills, starting from isolated practices to application in a competitive small-sided game.
Full Context - Video footage participating in the named sport in a competitive setting.
The purpose of the evening is to:
Confirm the skills required for each selected sport.
Demonstrate how sports clubs can support gathering progressive footage.
Demonstrate high quality video of the full context.
Elaborate how you can support your child’s GCSE PE Coursework.
Share resources.
Allow for parents/carers to ask any questions.
Please can you complete the Microsoft Form (https://forms.office.com/e/HexLJ2XtMr) to confirm your attendance. We kindly ask you to limit the number of attendees you bring with you as capacity in the main hall is limited.
Yours faithfully,

Mr R Gunner, PE Subject Lead
