Autumn Term Letter 2025

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope you and your family enjoyed the summer break; we are looking forward to welcoming the students back to school on Thursday 4 September (Week A). I am writing with some reminders and updates ahead of the start of term, which I hope you will find useful.

Congratulations Year 11!

We were delighted to welcome so many Year 11s back to school on 21 August to receive their GCSE results. Their impressive achievements are the well-deserved result of both their own hard work and the support of parents and staff.

Well done Year 11, we are sure they will see even more success in their next steps in education and training!

Staffing Changes

We are delighted to be welcoming some new members of staff to our Crofton School community this term: Mr Clements (Assistant Headteacher), Mrs Patten (Science), Miss Ryan (PE), Mrs Caine (English), Ms Ramos (RE), Miss Treleaven (Science), Miss O’Neill (Student Support Leader) and Mrs Smith (Learning Support Assistant).

I am sure you will all join me in welcoming our new colleagues.

Start of Term Reminders

This information is unchanged from our end of summer term communications.

• Start of Term: The first day of term will be Thursday 4 September, this will be a Week A. Year 8-11 students will need to go to their tutor bases from 8.35am, ready to register at 8.45am. Year 7 students will go to the tennis courts.

  
  

• Equipment: please ensure your child brings the required equipment in a pencil case, and any replacement items have been purchased over the break.

  
  

• Uniform: we expect all students to attend in correct uniform on Thursday. Please contact your child’s tutor initially if you have any questions about this.

We know our high expectations is a key reason why you choose to send your children to Crofton School. We are always keen to hear from parents, and this includes where you have concerns you wish to raise. Sadly, we have seen an increase in inappropriate communications in the past year, which contrasts sharply with the highly supportive and polite interactions with have with the vast majority of parents and carers. May I remind you that kindness is central to our school values, and this includes the way you engage with my staff. Our aim is to ensure efficient and appropriate communications between parents and school and protect the wellbeing of everyone involved.
