As I am sure you are aware, the current weather forecasts for our area predict the possibility of snow falling. We have received a weather warning that snow may develop over much of the region and this could make driving hazardous. We cannot be certain about how much, if any, will fall and when, and also what transport difficulties this may cause for both students and staff.
If these circumstances occur passenger transport at Winchester advises their bus operators that if they can't guarantee completion of both the ‘in and return journeys to schools’ that they should not attempt to run their contracts.
At this time Crofton School are monitoring the situation and do not intend declaring the school shut, so we would expect students to be in school as usual, but clearly this may change. Therefore parents are advised that, should we receive a substantial snow fall, they frequently check our website, their mobile phones for a text, listen to local radio and watch the Hampshire website for school closures. All links are given below.
Radio Solent, Ocean FM, Wave 105 and the Quay.
Should it become necessary to close the school for some or all year groups then we will notify you as soon as we can. In this circumstance teachers will set work that can be done at home for any lessons missed on that day, details of which can be found on Show My Homework, via the school website.
Please know that our primary concern is for the safety and wellbeing of everyone, which we are sure that you will agree, is first and foremost.
