Have you ever considered a career in teaching?
Have you heard about School Direct?

Crofton School are part of the Pioneer Teaching Alliance for Fareham and Gosport which offers the School Direct Teacher Training Programme across a number of local schools. The application round for a September 2016 start opens on 27th October 2015. The Pioneer Alliance have opportunities for Primary School teachers as well as Secondary School teachers in the subjects of English, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and History.

School Direct is a school-led course that gives you the chance to learn ‘on the job’ in a school. It runs for one year and leads to qualified teacher status (QTS). There are a range of different funding packages available for trainees as well as a salaried route in some cases. Trainee teachers will also be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) by the University of Winchester on successful completion of assignments at Masters level.

School Direct (Tuition fee)

This is open to all high quality graduates and funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, either directly or a Student Loans Company loan. Trainees may be eligible to receive training bursaries and scholarships. Bursaries are available for graduates with a 2:1 or first in Physics, Maths and Chemistry.

School Direct (Salaried)

This is primarily for graduates with at least three years’ experience. Trainees are employed as an unqualified teacher. Salaries up to £25,000 are available to salaried trainees in Maths and Physics.

A high number of primary schools in the Fareham and Gosport area are part of the Pioneer Teaching Alliance as well as secondary schools including Crofton School, Cams Hill School, Henry Cort Community College and Portchester Community School.
