Year 8 Sailing

Thirteen Year 8 students went to Langstone Harbour from 29th Sepember to 3rd October for a week's sailing.

Here are some comments from the week.....

sailing students

"I really enjoyed the week because we went sailing and climbing. Thank you for taking us."
Louis Smith

"I enjoyed the week and think that everyone should have a go. It was absolutely brilliant."
Jay O'Donnell

"We learnt how to put up the sail and how to use a boat. The best bit of the week was all of it!"
Daniel Hibbard

"On Friday we were supposed to sail to Hayling Island but it was too windy so we did climbing and trapezing. I am glad we did because I saw the wall on Monday and wished all week I could have a go."
Shaun Panting

"I did not enjoy the climbing wall.........I think that other children should go sailing because it was a great experience."
Jessica Moorhead

"We learnt how to sail with others and get on with other group members."
Chloe Corkill

"Once upon a time we went sailing to Langstone Harbour."
Libby Reed

"After lunch we didn't get to sail because it was too windy so we learnt how to tie knots with rope."
Jack Stickler

"In the morning it was fairly breezy and Dan and I capsized (unfortunately, there was a float sewn into the top of the sail). It was rather fun, yet tasting the salt-water was h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e!"
Guy Newbury

"We had our ups and downs but we did get a lot of thumbs up from Mr O'Dowda."
Tori Barnes

"It was the best week and it was fantastic."
Laura Smith

"I got scared when I got to the top of the rock tower because I thought I was going to die."
Max Pike

"We had to learn how to steer, which was easy...... afterwards we went sailing and I didn't fall out or capsize, which was a
shame."
Jessica Ponsford
